Meet Bud
Hi! It’s me, the Older and Bolder guy! I’m quite fond of travel, love the great outdoors, and enjoy rubbing elbows with those who share the same passion and sense of adventure. I’m a little older, a little greyed, and a little more inclined to look ahead a little farther. It keeps me a bit focused on the paths ahead and away from buyer’s remorse. I’m a planner and set some structure in the things I do. I’ve learned from Billy that “God is Great, Beer is Good, and People are Crazy!”
I’ve spent a lifetime traveling the globe in and around the US Navy and now look forward to the more humanized travels. I stuck around home a few years after high school looking and looking more for something to light my fire. I played in rock bands, funk bands, and jammed with a lot of great musicians, but the fire wasn’t roaring like I had hoped. I heard great stories from one of my High School buds about the Navy. It took a little while to generate the curiosity, but, in my usual fashion, I checked it out and liked what I saw. I raised my hand, swore at some guy that I would “Support and Defend the Constitution of the United States Against All Enemies Foreign and Domestic,” packed my bag and said bye to my family for new horizons. I’ve walked on five continents, sailed the Seven Seas and three oceans, and visited 34 countries. To all my fellow warriors, I say Thank You for Your Service and Sacrifice, and I will never stop telling you so. I retired from the Navy in the first decade of the 22nd Century and have relearned how to live again on the outside. The Navy taught me how to be strong and accept challenge, live the best life, care for and respect my peeps, and have the tons of fun. I want to share with you wherever life takes me. If there’s fun to be had, I’m going to find it and share the best parts.
I’m a foodie. I like the smell, taste, and challenge in the kitchen. I love the mix of herbs and spices that produce the savory flavors and tinges of heat. Sometimes I get carried away with gourmet cuisine. I try to stay active to fight the bloat! I like the dark stuff; strong dark roasted coffee and the kind of beer that’s bold and chocolaty. I thank the Navy for that and the worldly culinary experiences. Kevin taught me the value of a garlic stuffed Spanish olive in a pilsner. Good and simple are the best parts of life.
I love outdoor things, hiking the foggy trails, a paddle to anywhere, and pretty much what every adventurer longs for. I’ve been playing outside a long time! The cold doesn’t bother me, sweat keeps me cool, exertion keeps me healthy. Courage to show up is what I’m all about. Courage to take on the adventures I want to embrace. The kind of courage that drives folks to get out of their comfort zone and live the lives they read about! I’m going to be brave, live boldly, and see where tomorrow takes me!
Come share some adventures. I’m found down roads less traveled on two lane highways. I hope to bring a smile to your face, a “Wow” for your voice, a thump for your heart, and an interest that will bring you back again. I don’t know where tomorrow will end nor what plan God has for me, but I can tell you with all my heart that I won’t give up, I won’t quit trying, and I will live a life of thanks and gratitude for the opportunities I have and hope to achieve. My wish is that you are going to like the adventures shared and come back again for a little bit more!
